You have a song or a course or a How-to Video idea. You have your budget and you are ready to hire a great videographer to make your vision come to life.

The problem is that you’re unsure about what to do next. We get it! It’s overwhelming to tackle a big project. Here are a few ideas (from a professional videographer) to get you started:

  1. Get several quotes. Educate yourself on the cost and what’s involved in your project so that you are well-prepared for the process.

  2. Review the videographer’s work. Make sure you like their style so that you get what you are looking for.

  3. Know what you want. Do your research and share examples of videos you like (and why you like them) with your videographer. Know the purpose of your video. Are you trying to drive traffic to your website? Reach more people with your music? Sell a course? The why is as important as the what.

  4. Be a team player. Make sure you provide timely feedback. When you get a proof, send feedback quickly so the videographer can finish the project. Finishing a project ahead of schedule is always the goal.

  5. Communicate. Communicate. Communicate. In addition to the timely feedback mentioned above, avoid confusion by making sure your videographer has one (1) contact on your team. All communication should flow through that one person. Feedback from multiple sources is not helpful and can cause delays and increase the cost of your project. Having open lines of communication is key.

Following these steps will eliminate confusion and keep you from going off track.

Hiring a videographer is an important step in getting your message out. Now that you know what you want and why you want it, let’s get started!
